American artist honored in Italy for historic painting.

At a ceremonial unveiling, on April 24,2007 at  the Castello Devachan in San Remo Italy, David Schor, internationally collected artist from Miami Florida was honored  for his  painting which  depicts the League of Nations accord signed at the Castello Devachan 87 years ago.

From April 19 through April 26, 1920 Heads of State from Great Britain, France, Italy, Japan as well as other Supreme Council  members of the League of Nations  met at the Castello Devachan. Decisions were made at that conference which altered the destiny of the Jewish people and of the inhabitants of Palestine, Iraque, Syria, and Lebanon. Among other mandates, a Jewish homeland in Palestine was made official.

In a decidedly unique composition, Artist David Schor from Miami Florida, has spanned two centuries to create an original painting which captures this historic site in Italy, the event of world significance, and  the individuals involved in that event.

The British Consul, Peter Carter, who was the  Ambassador to Israel for four years, unveiled the framed picture in the entrance of the Castello Devachan and commented on the significance of that conference and the appropriateness of the painting and its location.

The ceremony was organized by Joel and Margaret Kaye of London, England. “We are the proud owners of the apartment within the historic Castello Devachan at which the accord was signed.”,  states Joel Kaye, of London, England, who commissioned the painting.

Invited to the ceremony were owners of apartments and administrators of the Castello Devachan, major officials from the Commune of San Remo, Journalists from Las Stampa, the Italian national newspaper, officials from the International Institute of Humanitarian Law as well as friends of the Kayes.

Artist, Schor described the events leading up to the completion of the painting and the techniques he used.

The Castello Devachan is depicted as it stands today but is painted in the many layered, impressionistic style reminiscent of Monet’s Cathedral series. Antique photographs provided Schor with the visual information necessary for him to capture the participants of the conference in a monochromatic manner in the foreground

“We are grateful to David for capturing this historic moment for us in order that we may display it in our London home and at the Castello.(The Artist Proof)” Kaye stated.

“The politicians seem to jump out from the canvas.  David Schor has magically captured the images of those  conference delegates in his present day painting of the Castello.” concluded Mr. Kaye.

David Schor is an artist of  international renown, and is the artist who depicted the Rotary International’s credo of “The Four Way Test” as well as the YMCA of the U.S.A.’s  “Four Values“. He makes his home base in Miami, Florida with his wife, Olga, but travels worldwide creating paintings for clients throughout Europe, the Caribbean and the United States.

“We are really excited to own our first David Schor original painting and we feel sure that the late British prime Minister Lloyd George and his French, Italian, Belgium, and Dutch counterparts would approve of David’s Imaginative skills.” Mr. Kaye said.
